Suspect in Woodruff stabbing & SWAT standoff arrested
SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WLOS) —
Deputies in South Carolina have arrested a man accused of stabbing a woman before a SWAT standoff that lasted several hours in Woodruff over the weekend.
Bobby Ray Brown, II, 41, of Woodruff, is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Spartanburg County authorities responded to a crash on Varner Road in Woodruff Sunday afternoon to find the female driver who had crashed had been stabbed in the abdomen.
The victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where she underwent surgery for her injuries, and at present, her prognosis is good.
Multiple witnesses and the victim herself told deputies the attacker had run into a home on Varner Road.
Deputies and SWAT team members surrounded the home. Hours later, SWAT team members entered the home but were unable to find the suspect.
With the assistance of several citizens, the stabbing suspect, Bobby Ray Brown, II, was located and arrested without incident in the area of Miller Road in Woodruff, on Sunday night.
Brown is currently in Spartanburg County jail awaiting a bond hearing.
