The property featured in the 1958 Robert Mitchum movie "Thunder Road" has an asking price of $850,000, said Mike Bryant of Estate Realty.

The house doesn't appear in the movie, but the structure below it and the bridge you have to cross to get there do, in the chase scene where Mitchum’s character, a moonshiner, is running from police.

The chase ends as they block him at the property, under the bridge.

Bryant said the Keener House was built in the late 1800s and is a roughly 2500-square-foot, two-story home with four bedrooms.

It also has a general store downstairs. “The plaster's all original, and no one's lived here since, whew, probably 40 years,” Bryant said.

In its current condition the house is not livable, but Bryant said the owner has had several people express interest in buying it.

Some have wanted to tear it down, something the owner does not want to see.

“She just really loved the property and wanted to save it, so we've got a couple folks looking now that would qualify for the tax credits to restore it, because it's going to be quite a bit, more than she wanted to spend or could spend,” said Bryant.
