Woman serving 2 life sentences in double murder seeks retrial
SWAIN COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) —
A woman serving two life sentences in a Swain County double murder is back in court, attempting to get a new trial.
Tiffany Marion was one of six people arrested for the murders of Scott Wiggins and Michael Compton in 2008.
Three suspects pleaded guilty. Two others committed suicide.
Marion and her attorney argue since she was not offered a plea deal, it shows the prosecution was racist.
District Attorney Ashley Welch and several former prosecutors have denied that during a hearing this week in Bryson City.
