Party Rock Fire grew by about 900 acres on Friday with concerns about wind stoking flames through the upcoming weekend, according to North Carolina Forest Service.

A public meeting was held at the Broad River Fire Department in Black Mountain on Friday afternoon to update residents and business owners on the movement of the fire.

According to forest service spokesperson Victoria Tillotson, Rumbling Bald Resort became more at risk from the fire because the fire was moving that way along with help from the wind.

Plans are to get people back into Chimney Rock Village and evacuated parts of Buncombe and Henderson counties starting on Saturday at noon.

"If the wind causes it to jump the fire line, we could be in danger," resident Gaspar Robles said.

Tillotson told News 13 the fire reached more than 7,676 acres and was 36 percent contained by Friday morning.
