Leadership Day is a big day for students at Asheville Catholic School.

Students explained to visitors how the school's 7x7 program is used in their classrooms. It combines the seven virtues -- like charity, faith and hope -- with the Leader in Me program, which focuses on things like being proactive and putting first things first.

Students said they have benefited from the program.

"Sometimes, on a test, other people, they get done earlier than me. And it kind of, just like for some reason in my brain, it's like, Garrett you got to hurry up. But it's not so. If I just ignore that, I can focus on my test and do my own thing," third-grader Garrett said.

"The virtues can be done by, you know, like charity, we can do it while we're doing something nice for someone," fifth-grader Vanessa said. "You know every act of kindness -- even a small one -- could still help you even with the virtues and habits.

This is the third year for the Leader in Me program at Asheville Catholic School.
