Students at one Buncombe County school are discovering there's more to Thanksgiving than turkey and dressing. They're finding out it's a time to be thankful for the things they have.

Art class is a great time to teach kindergarteners about the importance of being thankful, and Mr. Wince also uses the activity to teach the kindergarteners about geometric shapes .

For instance, the turkey's body and head are circles. The feathers are shaped like triangles.

Next the kids are asked to write down some things they're thankful for.

"My family and my friends, and my cousins and my teachers," said Aryah, a student.

The kindergarteners at Avery's Creek Elementary get art class for 40 minutes once a week.

And as you can imagine their moms and dads have plenty of refrigerator art.
