It's been a big week for some children in Western North Carolina as they begin their school careers.

Kindergartners at Glenn Marlow Elementary each received a "Class of 2030" t-shirt to celebrate the beginning of their education in Henderson County.

2030 is the year those new students will graduate from high school.

It was a special gift to mark the milestone and to remind them of the years to come.

"It's a visual way for our students to think about their future and achievement and graduation," Graham Fields, of Park Ridge Hospital, said.

One thousand kindergartners in Henderson County got those special t-shirts.

The tradition of the "Class of" shirts returned to the school system in 2015. Employees and representatives from each of the eight sponsor companies helped distribute the t-shirts
