If you're looking for some special entertainment this weekend, consider going to a play at a local school.

The kids at Emmanuel Lutheran School are preparing for their performance of "Peter Pan Jr." Thirty-two cast and crew members have been rehearsing for a week and a half, getting ready for the big performance.

In addition to learning how to dance and sing on stage, Peter and Captain Hook are learning the correct way to fight.

The kids have learned to perform as one unit. They're taught to help one another, behave backstage and to follow directions.

The kids said even though some of them have been on stage before, performing can still be stressful.

"It was definitely stressful. First I wasn't scared, but once you start to, like, get up on stage, you get nervous. But it definitely helps," explained Esiais, who's playing Captain Hook in the play.

The performances for "Peter Pan Jr." will be Friday, August 4, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, August 5, at 2 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at Emmanuel Lutheran School in Asheville.
