Spring has sprung, and one Asheville school is celebrating by gathering around the maypole.

The Pre-K maypole has been a tradition at Carolina Day School for more than 22 years. For the past two years, the event has been a buddy activity with older kids.

Hand in hand, children wrap the pole with beautiful ribbons. Teachers say it's a simple and sweet time with their fourth-grade buddies.

The maypole is a culminating activity of the students study of spring. They've also germinated seeds, planted flowers and grass and of course learned all kinds of songs to help them remember all of those wonderful things.
