Mountain Dance & Folk Festival celebrates 90 years
Asheville, N.C. (WLOS) —
The 90th annual Mountain Dance and Folk Festival returns to Asheville, with a new venue.
The 3-day event is being held Thursday, August 3rd through Saturday, August 5th at the Mission Health/A-B Tech Conference Center in Asheville. This is on the main campus of A-B Tech, near downtown Asheville. Doors open at 5:30pm and the show begins at 6:30pm each day.
The festival showcases mountain performers through song, dance, clogging, and storytelling. Scottish, English, Irish, Cherokee and African heritage are all represented through the array of performances.

Tickets are $22 for adults or $60 for a 3-day package. Children 12 and younger are admitted for $12 and students pay $15 per ticket. You can purchase tickets at the door or through this link.
The festival is organized by the Folk Heritage Committee, with the goal of preserving and continuing the traditional music, dance and storytelling heritage of the Southern Appalachian Mountains.
Proceeds from ticket sales help the Folk Heritage Committee to also cover the costs of the 8 "Shindig on the Green" events each summer.
