NC College Week kicks off

North Carolina Application Week kicks off with a number of events taking place at local high schools to get students ready and excited about applying for college.

College Foundation of North Carolina representative Laura Misner stopped by News 13 This Morning to talk about some of the events taking place and to discuss application fee waivers.


Monday, November 13

T.C. Roberson, AC Reynolds, Owen HS: before/after school/Smart Lunch - assistance with applications

Asheville High: 12-2 pm in the media center (assistance with applications)

Owen and TC Roberson having week-long college competitions culminating Friday with a door decorating contest by teachers to highlight his/her undergraduate college


Tuesday, November 14

Asheville High: 12-2 pm - assistance with applications

TC Roberson, AC Reynolds, Owen High: before/after school/Smart Lunch - assistance with applications

Swain High: providing assistance all day for students

Pisgah High: daylong push for all seniors to apply to a college; college reps will be on hand to assist with applications

Enka High: daylong event for seniors and parents to complete financial aid form (FAFSA)

Owen and TC Roberson having week-long college competitions culminating Friday with a door decorating contest by teachers to highlight his/her undergraduate college


Wednesday, November 15

Madison High: daylong push for all seniors to apply to a college; college reps will be on hand to assist with applications

Erwin High: daylong push for all seniors to apply to a college; college reps will be on hand to assist with applications; also a day for ALL seniors to declare their after-graduation plans (college, military, work, etc)

Franklin High: daylong push for all seniors to apply to a college; college reps will be on hand to assist with applications

Tuscola High: daylong push for all seniors to apply to a college; college reps will be on hand to assist with applications

TC Roberson, AC Reynolds, Owen High: before/after school/Smart Lunch - assistance with applications

Hendersonville High: assistance during lunch

Swain High: providing assistance all day for students

N. Henderson High: daylong push for all seniors to apply to a college; college reps will be on hand to assist with applications

Enka High: daylong trip to Western Carolina University for 10th-12th graders (two busloads funded completely by community donations)
