Pet Project: Foothills Humane Society
Columbus, N.C. (WLOS) —
The first ever News 13 Pet Project is scheduled for Friday, November 10, from 4:30-7pm at Camp Bow Wow at 5 Airport Road.
News 13 is partnering with several local humane societies and rescue groups to help animals in our area find a forever home.
One of those groups, the Foothills Humane Society, has served Polk County and surrounding areas for decades.
Foothills Humane Society is a no-Kill, open-admission, adoption-guarantee animal welfare organization serving the rural foothills of Polk County.
Between their campus in Polk County, and others in Landrum, Campobello and in the Upstate, they help nearly 2,000 animals each year through various programs.
In addition to their adoptions and rescue programs, the organizations offer many volunteer opportunities, public training classes, training and behavior assistance for our shelter dogs and boast an average 97% live-release rate, meaning that approximately 97% of our animals are adopted into loving homes or transferred to reputable rescue organizations.
