Shoppers line up for "Black Friday Bash" at Asheville Mall
Asheville, NC - Hundreds of shoppers lined up at the Asheville Mall Friday morning, awaiting Black Friday deals and discounts.
News 13's Lauren Brigman talked with shoppers as they waited for doors to open at 6am. Many shoppers say Black Friday is about enjoying the thrill of the deal with friends and family.
Donna McDonald and her daughter Heather were the first in line at the Asheville Mall - arriving at 4am. For them, Black Friday has become a mother/daughter tradition and they say it's great bonding time.
This year, the Asheville Mall hosted its first "Black Friday Bash," with $10 gift cards for the first 250 shoppers in line at the main entrance. Hourly raffle prizes, a selfie station and performance by DJ Mini Moto were also part of the event.
“Black Friday is a celebration, and we want to ensure that all guests have a great time in a welcoming and warm environment while shopping for their friends and family,” says Matthieu Rodriguez, Marketing Director for Asheville Mall. He adds that the mall was closed on Thanksgiving Day to allow employees to spend time with their families.
