Tomatoes headline the Henderson County Tailgate Market
Henderson County, N.C. (WLOS) —
On Saturday, August 5th, at least 30 different types of tomatoes will be in one place - at the Henderson County Tailgate Market.
It's happening from 8am until noon, in downtown Hendersonville. The exact address is 100 North King Street in Hendersonville.
On News 13 This Morning, Lauren Brigman talks with local tomato farmer, Greg Hoots, and board member of the Henderson County Tailgate Market, Joey Popp.
Hoots will be one of the more than two dozen vendors with produce to sell at the market. He says he is also one of about 10 growers who will specifically have tomatoes for sale. Hoots says the month of August is the prime time to get tomatoes, as well as many other types of produce.
Popp says tomato sandwiches will be served up for people to sample as they browse the market selection. For details on the economic impact of the locally-grown tomatoes, watch the live interviews included on this page.
