J.J. McMickens has made big changes in his life the past year, and for good reason.Katie Souris, care counselor in the YWCA diabetes wellness program, "when you get the diagnosis of diabetes, it's a beautiful time for a wake-up call just to say that healthy eating and small changes in your diet and exercise every day are important."J.J. works out routinely at the YWCA and participates in the organization's diabetes education program that partners with mission pharmacy residents.Jonna Munroe, Mission pharmacy resident, "I talk to the patients; I get a medication list... We go through side effects and questions and really meet them with what they need."Katie, "I think that through meetings with the pharmacists, lives have probably been saved."Including J.J.'s, he is now off diabetes medication, but still on his fitness plan. J.J. McMickens, partnership client, "I was up to like 438 pounds...
