They originated in Bolivia and Argentia and eventually made there way to the United States. In today's Never Stop Learning report, kids discover just how useful Alpacas they can be. Erin Green shows these summer campers how to spin fur into fiber. It's a field trip to the Last Penny Alpaca Farm in Weaverville. They get to touch the animals, feel what the fur feels like and see the many different items you can make, like socks and shirts and hats. They say this is a fun way to learn about history, geography and science. The kids get to finger knitt, which they say is alot harder than it looks.
