Award Winning Playground

Updated: Monday, October 28 2013, 08:38 PM EDT
It's a whimsical, mystical place that brings out the kid in everyone.

Students at Rainbow Community School in Asheville are celebrating their new playground.

The project started last year and with the help of parents, volunteers and even the students it has finally come to life.

Rainbow Mountain received a national award for using mostly recycled materials like dead locust logs, and other materials.

But students say the best thing is that the kids designed it, allowing them to voice their choice.

Even the pre-school playground looks like a gnome village.  It was designed to meet state standards that helps teachers use nature, health, nutrition and fitness to enrich the students education.Award Winning Playground
