Mountain school children are celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and the lesson begins with a bunch of barn yard animals
School counselor Mitzi Pearson is using the band aid chicken to teach children about standing up for others and treating everyone fairly.
The first graders are learning that Dr. King had the courage to do that so many years ago and why it is still important today.
At Mars Hill Elementary School they have read books about Dr. Kings dream. It's a lesson they say that should never be forgotten.
The children got the chance to make their own band aid chicken so they can remember to stand up for others and to treat everyone fairly
Madison County students were in school this morning to make up for a snow day. Teachers say attending class on this national holiday class made it the perfect opportunity to keep Dr. Kings dream alive!
