It's one of the most often over looked vegetable that has so much to offer. In todays Never Stop Learning, a cooking class that has third graders lickin their lips and asking for more.
Students at Haw Creek Elementary school are chopping up sweet potatoes and pouring them into a pot.
Next they get to vote on the herb of their choice - there's thyme, rosemary and oregano. And they shake the heavy whipping cream until it's butter, which makes for a better potato.
The third graders are learning about making healthy choices and the importance of trying new things.
The sweet potatoes are grown locally at Gaining Ground Farm in Lester.
The cooking demonstration which is sponsored by ASAP also teaches children the importance of buying from farmers right here at home.
It supports the local economy and the food is always fresh!
