Teaching kids the science of sound through the magic of music.
That's the goal of Dr. Bob's SoundSchool, and it appears to be working!
Students are on stage at The Orange Peel, "showing off" what they've learned during the 10 week program.
Dr. Bob's SoundSchool, "the kids discover the physics of sound.. like vibrations and sound waves."
Students learn these concepts by using acoustic and electronic instruments such as the theremin.
Sound for second graders is part of the North Carolina standard course of study.
Educators say this "hands on" program makes it easy for the kids to understand a subject that's hard to teach.
Over 700 second graders in 9 different schools took part in the program.
In 3 to 5 years the Moog Foundation hopes to go national with the SoundSchool.
