From hissing cock roaches...to tiny tree frogs, this field trip has it all!

Second graders from Pisgah Elementary School are learning about all kinds of creepy crawly things.

They get to go into  the woods in search of centipedes, daddy long legs, beetles  and all types of animals you might find under dead logs and leaves.

It's a "hands on" activity at the North Carolina Arboretum that enhances what they've already learned in the classroom.

For instance, why worms are so important to the ecosystem.

They're also being taught to be gentle and respectful of the animals.

Students say this has been the best field trip ever!North Carolina Arboretum
