Earlier this week students students in Ms. Macmahans class took a field trip to the farmer's market in Asheville. During that trip each child got to pick out their favorite pumpkin and take it with them.
Those pumpkins are more than just pretty decorations in the classroom.
Kindergarteners at WD Williams in Swannona are going all out with their gourds.
They have a different math activity at each station. They weigh them, draw them, guessing their height and width, and then even drop them in water to see if they sink.
They compare the difference between the outside and the inside of the gourd. Ms. Macmahan also uses the smart board so the students can identify the seeds inside.
