Students at Hillandale Elementary School are really on a roll when it some to reading.

There's only 20 of them, but so far this year they've already read over 1,300 books!

Skippy John Jones is just one of the many books these third graders have already read this year.

Ms. Swanzys students are  doing so well, they're one of only 33 classrooms in the state to receive a "Model Classroom Certification" from the accelerated reader program.

The students are required to read 20 minutes a day, and once they've completed a book they take a multiple choice test to make sure the kids are comprehending what they're reading.

Students say they now prefer a book over a movie.

Ms. Swanzy says her students average 46 minutes of reading a day.  She's also seen a major growth in their reading skills and comprehension.

The A.R. tests will also help the students with their end of grade test because they are now familiar with the multiple choice format.Ready to Read
