Every year, thousands of tourists flock to the mountains to enjoy our beautiful outdoors. But as you'll see in this Never Stop Learning Report, there are children who were born here who've never had the opportunity to see what Western North Carolina has to offer. That is until now.
Isreal, Kamani and Fidel are sharing stories about some of the outdoor field trips they took this summer. For the past 6 weeks, they've been coming to the Deaverview Learning Center. First they do an activity, have a snack and then they're off to explore the mountains. They rode horses, took swimming lessons, and packed for an overnight camping trip. But they say rafting was one of the most exciting trips of all.
The field trips are over for the summer. Thanks to Children First Communities In Schools, more than 100 kids in Buncombe County got to explore our mountains.
