Summer Plus Program

Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 09:18 PM EDT
It is a "summer plus" program that has kids tweaking their math and reading skills

In our Never Stop Learning, we see how the students feel about summer school and if they think their hard work will pay off this fall.
Monday through Thursday this is where you'll find these rising first graders working hard at Claxton Elementary School.

These are just some of the 200 kids who are taking part in the Asheville City Schools Summer Plus program.

Teachers focus on reading and math during the 4 week session.

Students in grades first through third can participate.

The goal is minimize the math and reading skills they'll loose over the summer months.

This is the second year the Asheville City School has combined students from all 5 elementary schools.

The students in the program were recommended by their principal, teacher or parent to attend the education program.Summer Plus Program
