Some mountain teachers are participating in a school workshop and they aren't being paid a dime. That's because teachers know the importance of being life long learners. Buncombe County educators are volunteering their time to take part in a teacher workshop at Johnston Elementary School. It's a foundation reading program called "Fun"dations and is designed for students in grades K through 2. These seasoned educators are learning how to teach the program focusing on vocabulary, phonics and word study, comprehensioin and fluency. Teachers say they're happy to donate their time in preperation for the coming year. The first day back for Buncombe County teachers is Friday. The students are back August 21st.
