Students at one mountain middle are making waves, and they're getting help from the community for their science lesson.
6th graders at Asheville Middle School are participating in Wave Day.
Research scholars, scientists, teachers and volunteers are working with the students at 7 different stations.
Here they participate in hands on activities that demonstrate different wave patterns.
The students learn about congressional waves and how it can actually create movement to turn a pin wheel.
They also record their voice and learn how sound waves travel.
The science activities were made possible by a fellows grant from the Asheville City Schools Foundation.
