Retirement parties can
be bitter-sweet affairs. That was certainly the case recently when
current and former patients gathered to celebrate our Person of the
Week. As News 13's Larry Blunt found out, it was for a man who has truly
lived up to his name, Doctor Love.
New life born in the season of
hope. Delivered less than 24 hours ago to a family with happiness and
love. But for more than 7,000 babies born at Park Ridge Health, Love
also has a title.
Doctor David Love is retiring after 42 years of
delivering babies and saving lives. In a gathering for former
patients., he's being treated for a condition called gratitude. Patients
and staff will tell you David Love has been more than a physician. He's
been a trusted friend.
Over four decades, he made a life-changing
impact on thousands, even while dealing with his own great personal
tragedy. His wife and youngest daughter were killed in an accident. His
second wife died of cancer.
Even though he's retiring, Dr. David
love will never be far away. Afterall, to him they were never really
patients. They were family. The playcenter for children at Park Ridge
Health is named after Doctor Love. As for retirement, he says his wife
Nita is a quilt maker, so he'll be going to a lot of quilt shows.
