Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 09:21 PM EDT

78-year-old Dorothy Davidson's service dog saved the day by dialing 911. She'd fallen in the bathroom and couldn't get up when Davidson called on her service dog make the call.

Golden Retriever mix "Spirit" is actually trained on a special phone made for pooches. When the owner called for her, Spirit pushed a button that first calls the woman's family and then dials 911.

Davidson leans on the service dog for both help and companionship. She has a neurological disorder called primary lateral sclerosis.
