Updated: Monday, September 10 2012, 08:48 PM EDT

A man, suspected of running down another man after a verbal disagreement Saturday night, has turned himself into police. Authorities charged Jeffrey Warren Ponder with felony hit and run with serious injury after the Asheville Police Department says he hit a pedestrian in Biltmore Park.

Witnesses say Ponder drove up, over the curb, and hit Ian Mather and drove away. Mather was walking with his family at the time. He was taken to Mission Hospital with a leg injury.

The victim's wife, Karla Mather, describes what happened in this raw news clip.
