Mission Health Cutbacks

Updated: Tuesday, August 20 2013, 08:01 PM EDT
Mission Hospital faces more than $350 million in future budget cuts as a result of Obamacare. Mission Health president and CEO, Ron Paulus, shared the news with staff in a letter last week. He says the hospital is losing federal reimbursements under the Affordable Care Act. The law also reduces the amount of bad debt the hospital can write off. He says those losses were supposed to be offset by providing health insurance to more people. Paulus says reductions in state Medicare and Medicaid payments have also added to the problem.
