Questionable ABC Commission Hire

Some members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians are angry about the hiring of Curtis Canty. He is the former head of the Asheville ABC board. He resigned last year following an investigation into alleged criminal wrongdoing.
Enlisted members say Canty was then hired by the Cherokee ABC Commission, Bob Blankenship. Blankenship says he was brought on as a consultant to establish the nation's own independent ABC Commission after the state legislature gave its approval last year.
But folks fighting the public sale of alcohol on the reservation say Canty's hiring defies all logic.
