In the weeks after a gunman opened fire in a Connecticut school killing 26 people, there's a call to ban assault weapons in the mountains.
A resolution that's been introduced to end the sales of assault weapons in Henderson County. A former Episcopal priest drafted the ban and has submitted it to county and city officials to be considered. It's on the Hendersonville's City Council's agenda set for Thursday.
The county attorney says state laws don't allow for a local ban like this and banning a type of weapon is not within the jurisdiction of city or county boards.
