Battle of the Badges

Updated: Wednesday, February 20 2013, 07:36 PM EST
The battle lines are drawn in a fight where everyone is the winner.   For the third year in a the American Red Cross is hosting the Battle of the Badges.

It is a friendly competition that invites you to pick your favorite First Responders and help their team collect the most blood donations.
Every day EMS, fire, and law enforcement see the first-hand the importance of making sure we blood ready during emergencies.  This morning some of the team members showed News 13's Victoria Dunkle why now is an important time to get involved.   The winter can be a down time for donations and blood supplies can run low.
This year, the Battle is being held in honor of Buncombe County Sheriff's Deputy Josh Robinson.  He is 25 years old and battling Leukemia.

The Battle of the Badges blood drive is from 8:00 a.m - 6:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Asheville.
