Boston Marathon: Finish Line Chaos

Updated: Tuesday, April 16 2013, 07:14 AM EDT

Several mountain runners competed in Monday's Boston Marathon. News 13 spoke to three of them by phone. They describe the events as total chaos.

Hendersonville doctor, Thomas Eisenhauer, had just crossed the finish line and was making his way to the medic tent. But his excitement quickly turned to horror. Minutes after crossing the finish line, he heard two loud explosions. Dr. Eisenhauer says immediately following the blast, emergency personnel at the medic tent jumped into action.

Danielle Deise from Arden was in the medic tent when the chaos erupted. "People started moving toward the tent to look out the front, toward where the sound had come from and then we saw people through the doorway running back toward the finish line and I was like there is something going on," said Deise.

Kimberly Sweetland from Asheville had already finished the race and was already back in her hotel when the bombs went off. She says it wasn't until she started receiving texts from friends and family that she found out what had happened.

All three runners feel lucky to have been walk away without injuries.
