Investigators say it’s lucky no one was hurt in a high speed chase that ended with a car crashing into Macon County's Recreation Park.
They say 36-year-old Jeffery Davis of South Carolina stole a Lincoln town car, then drove it from Georgia into Macon County along Highway 441. At times, speeds topped 110 miles per hour.
Deputies say he eventually lost control and crashed into the park, where they arrested him. They say the situation could have been a lot worse. Davis faces a slew of charges including, assault with a deadly weapon on a government official and reckless driving to endanger. He remains in jail on $20,000 bond.
