Child Development Director Withdraws

A controversial pick to run North Carolina's pre-kindergarten program now says she will not take the job.
Dianna Lightfoot was appointed Tuesday to become the director of child development and early education.
Then reports surfaced that in the past Lightfoot had spoken out against childhood education programs.
She issued a statement Thursday, saying she doesn't want to be a distraction to the department and will pursue other opportunities.
