Death At Fiery Home Investigated As Homicide

The whispers around a West Asheville neighborhood are now magnified by the findings of an APD investigation.
Since September, some neighbors wondered about the death of 54-year-old Michael Willingham.
"I firmly believe somebody did something to that man," said one man down the street, who did not want to be identified.
Willingham's body was found in his burning home on Logan Avenue.
But in a search warrant, police point to autopsy results which say that Willingham was dead before the fire started.
And that a blunt force injury to the head, along with the presence of alcohol and drugs, may have been the "perfect storm" that caused sudden death.
The document also says the SBI crime lab found evidence of an accelerate in carpet samples taken from the scene.
Police are searching Willingham's phone records to track down a possible motive for his killing.
