A year after a tornado touched down in Rutherford County, some families in Ellenboro are still trying to put their lives back together. The EF-2 tornado left behind miles of destruction.
One family says the tornado was a blessing in disguise. The tornado took almost everything from the Henderson family. Harold and Barbara Henderson almost didn't make it out of their home alive. The tornado blew the house down around them.
After spending time in the hospital, the couple came home to find friends, family, even perfect strangers working to help build them a new home. Volunteers worked for 2 days a week over 6 months to build the Henderson's a bigger and better house.
The couple says the tornado brought them too many blessings to count.
