An Asheville woman who was rushed to Mission Hospital Friday after being pulled from her burning condominium, has died.
Deborah Bebber was found unconscious in the burning condo Friday morning, just before noon. She was rushed to Mission Hospital and died from her injuries on Sunday evening, March 10th.
Approximately 30 firefighters responded to the fire at 410 Windswept Drive. Crews arrived on the scene to find the upper unit of a four unit condo structure full of fire and smoke. Crews rapidly gained access to the unit on fire and began searching the unit. The fire caused heavy damage to the unit itself, including a partial collapse of the roof. Other condo units suffered smoke damage. There were no other reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.
As of Monday, investigators did not know the cause of the fire, but say it started in the master bedroom of the unit. Investigators say Bebber was found near her dining room table unresponsive.
