Glover Retrial

Updated: Monday, April 22 2013, 08:15 PM EDT
The retrial of a man accused of killing his girlfriend and dumping her burned body along the Blue Ridge Parkway is expected to begin today.

Jury selection for Jermain Glover is expected to begin this afternoon in Henderson County.

Glover is charged with first-degree murder in the 2009 death of Misty Carter.

Jurors in the first trial last month were split, evenly divided with six jurors believed he was guilty of either first or second degree murder and six jurors believing he was innocent.

They listened to about two weeks of emotional testimony, including Jermaine Glover taking the witness stand in his own defense.

Prosecutors showed jurors a grisly scene on the Blue Ridge Parkway where deputies found Misty Carter's nude and burned body.

A witness testified he saw someone on the parkway who looked like Glover shortly before that witness discovered the body lying on the side of the road.

Glover denied that he killed Carter and his attorney told jurors he could not have moved Carter's body because Glover is confined to a wheelchair because one leg was amputated.

One juror told us prosecutors had no murder weapon or a confession and that the evidence didn't show a clear location where the murder happened.
