Henderson County Secondary Road Issues

Updated: Friday, February 14 2014, 01:10 AM EST

Secondary roads are still a big concern across the mountains. Many remain snow covered.

Roads like I-40 are in good shape in Haywood County. The Smoky Mountain Expressway is mainly clear. But slippery spots remain and can catch drivers off guard. The Highway Patrol says a vehicle hit some snow and slid into the guardrail. No one was hurt.

In Hendersonville public works officials say they're pleased with the clear roads they've plowed for main streets as well as secondary roads. Some residents may think they live on a city street but it may be a state road and then North Carolina's Department of Transportation is responsible for plowing it.

That's the case for Bridget Sonne who lives on Broadway just a few blocks from downtown Hendersonville.

"The major streets are always clean but these side streets they don't get to them for two or three days," said Sonne.

If you live on a city street that hasn't been cleared Hendersonville public works wants to hear from you. Call their line at 697-3084 and leave a message. Officials also encourage people to post issues by downloading an app for their smartphone called www.seeclick.fix.
