Illegal Dumping in Henderson County
Updated: Monday, January 14 2013, 07:50 PM EST
Henderon County officials are working to stop illegal dumping in a secluded area of the county.
A church in Ohio owns land off Shumont Road, using it as their mountain retreat. Down an embankment, people have illegally dumped things like vinyl siding, paint cans, shingles and household electronics.
The county has worked hard to find out who's to blame. Meanwhile, the out-of-state church is being forced to pay for the clean up.
Instead of dumping, residents in Henderson County can participate in the Bag for Bag Program at the center on Convenience Center Drive off Stoney Mountain Road. Simply bring a bag of recycling along with a bag of trash, and there is no cost.
