Immigrants Freed

New developments in the case of ten illegal immigrants arrested at a Jackson County traffic checkpoint last May.
All ten are free and federal authorities are no longer trying to deport them. Immigration groups say the sheriff's office conducted the checkpoint with federal officers and improperly used it to target illegal immigrants.
Civil rights organizations like the ACLU are asking Jackson County officials for records to see if there's a pattern by the sheriff's office of focusing on a specific group of people in a specific area. County Officials say there's no evidence of that.
Calls to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office for comment were not returned.
