Movie Cameras Roll In Leicester

Updated: Friday, March 29 2013, 08:45 AM EDT

At Leicester Elementary, trucks and trailers packed into the parking lot.

While up Gilbert Road, it's a closed set for the filming of "The World Made Straight." It's based on a novel by Ron Rash, a Western Carolina Professor.

The scenes focused on a white house up the road.

"We wanted to capture the setting," says film producer Todd Laborowski. "It takes place in the Appalachians. It deals with a Civil War massacre that happened in the area."

The movie is being shot at various locations in the mountains. Wednesday, the crew was in Weaverville.

The stars of the move include Noah Wyle of "ER" fame and Hayley Joel Osment, known for "Sixth Sense."
Despite the Hollywood names, the producer says folks in Leicester are playing a great supporting role.
"I think people have been really accomodating," says Laborowski. "I mean it's the South, what can I say everybody's just been wonderful."
