Woman around the world, including dozens here in the mountains, take part in a campaign to end violence against women.
The "One Billion Rising" campaign asked women to dance in solidarity.
An estimated one billion people are survivors of abuse around the world.
Locally, women danced together at "Fitness Fusion" in Hendersonville to raise awareness.
The organizer says the shocking number of victims is what spurred the movement and gave it it's name.
Denise Medved, Organizer, "One in three women in the entire world will be raped or violently abused in their lifetime. That's shocking, that's over one billion women that will be raped and abused or have been already."
The "One Billion Rising" movement was started on Valentine's Day 15-years ago by activist Emma Goldman and playwright Eve Ensler.
The event also included marches, human chains, and political debates all around the world.
