Overdose Deaths

Updated: Wednesday, April 10 2013, 08:57 PM EDT
Authorities in Haywood County are seeing a sharp spike in deaths this year related to drug overdoses.

So far, 12 people have died and the medical examiner says many of the deaths are possibly related to prescription drugs.

They're hoping for changes in the law to help them crack down on misuse of legal drugs.

Law enforcement is also holding a public forum April 16th.

It will address the dangers of prescription drugs.

The meeting will begin at 6:30pm and will be held at Haywood Community College.
