Red Cross Scammed
Updated: Wednesday, March 20 2013, 09:39 AM EDT
An Asheville woman is charged with scamming the American Red Cross to get disaster relief money.
Investigators say Delilah Flynn lied about being the victim of a house fire. She's charged with obtaining property by false pretense. Police say Flynn made up a name and the story about the house fire to con the Red Cross out of $1,600. They say this isn't the first time she's faced fraud charges.
The Red Cross discovered the discrepancy during a review and contacted police.
Her case is scheduled for court May 9th.
