Runaway Police Car
Updated: Wednesday, March 20 2013, 07:12 AM EDT
A Woodfin police car leaves the police station parking lot in reverse and backs across a busy street nearly hitting a car. No one was behind the wheel.
Clint Ingle took several pictures after seeing the car backing out of the police station parking lot. He says at first it looked like an officer was on the road because of a flooding problem. Then he noticed no one was in the patrol car. Ingle says the car was running and had been left in reverse because the cruiser's back-up lights can be seen in one of his pictures.
Town Manager Jason Young says the department is investigating the incident and has sent the six-and-a-half year-old car to the department's mechanic to check out the brakes.
