School Bus Stop Arm Violations Growing

Parents beware, local school leaders say cases of drivers disobeying school bus stop arms are growing.
A 6-year-old High Point girl was hit Wednesday when police say another driver failed to stop after the bus turned on its flashing red lights.
Buncombe County Schools said on just one day in 2012 they racked up 65 stop arm violations. The system's transportation director Joe Hough attributes that to cell phone use and impatient drivers. Hough also said the top two streets where drivers ignore school bus stop arms are Merrimon Avenue and Charlotte Street.
Violators face five points on your license and hundreds of dollars in court fines and fees.
